We have an exciting opportunity for a Head Veterinary Surgeon to join a busy established small animal veterinary hospital based south of Cambridge. The position is full-time and permanent.

The Practice:

This is our client’ flagship hospital supporting the Cambridge area, it is a state of the art building, that provides an exceptional environment for clients, staff and most importantly the pets.

The practice maintains a strong local focus and is committed to serving the community as well as providing support and referral facilities to the wider area. The hospital provides a full range of services from routine preventative health care, through to advanced surgery and medicine.

The Role:

This is a full-time permanent position for a Head Veterinary Surgeon, working 45 hours per week. The practice is open 09:00-19:00 on weekdays and the weekend rota is 1 in 3 Saturday mornings 09:00-13:00.

Your typical responsibilities will be:

Delivering a high level of clinical care to standards in conjunction with the RCVS Practice Standards Scheme, including but not limited to holding consultations and diagnosing animals, performing surgery, administering anesthesia, undertaking scans, etc.

You will be responsible for managing the vet teams and the wider hospital team, contributing your skills, efforts and personal strengths to help ensure a harmonious team ethos at all times.

The Candidate:

The successful candidate will have experience running a busy 24-hour hospital. You will be experienced in small animal surgery and medical. You will be capable of sole charge and have an awareness of the operational aspects of the practice that affect the practice profitability.
