Permanent Lead Veterinary Surgeon, Ashford

We are working with a friendly close-knit veterinary practice in the Ashford area of Kent that is looking for an experienced small animal Veterinary Surgeon to join them on a full-time permanent basis. For this role, they are looking for an experienced and confident Vet that is not only comfortable in a sole charge role but is also able to Lead others around them. There are two practices within this role.

The Practice:

Our client knows that pets are important family members and they take pride in forming lasting relationships with them and their owners, within the community. Their friendly vets, nurses, and support team are dedicated to pet’s well-being and look forward to meeting new clients.

They understand the value of preventative healthcare for pets and offer a Pet Healthcare Plan as an easy way to budget and save money for all pet’s preventative healthcare needs throughout their life.

If pets become unwell or are injured out of hours, an emergency service based at their Veterinary Hospital and provided by Vets Now is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to provide the best medical and surgical treatments available to help them on the road to recovery.

They have all the usual equipment including Doppler ultrasound, digital x-ray including dental x-ray, monitoring equipment, and an in-house lab.

The Role and Candidate:

This is a full-time permanent role where you will be working 4 days a week with 1 in 4 Saturdays (full days), hours 8.30-6.30 with a later finish of 7.30 pm once a week. With no out-of-hours requirements, this role supports a good work/life balance. You will be part of the shared rota for surgeries and consults, which are 15-minute appointments.

As a Lead Veterinary Surgeon, you will be an experienced and confident Vet that can lead others around them and inspire others to work to the best of their ability. You must be comfortable with sole charge and wanting to take the next step in your career. The role would involve both clinical and admin work, mentoring, and supporting the team.

The Package:

In return for all your hard work and dedication, our client is offering a competitive package that includes:

  • Competitive salary - depending on experience
  • A generous holiday allowance of up to 5 weeks (pro-rata) plus a day for your birthday
  • Professional membership fees paid (RCVS, VDS, BVA) and discount for your own animals
  • Generous CPD allowance encouraged to certificate level
