Permanent Lead Veterinary Surgeon - Slough, Berkshire

We are working with a small animal veterinary practice in the Slough area of Berkshire that is looking for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join them on a full-time permanent basis. This is a sole vet practice with the potential to become a 1.5 Vet practice in the future, so this is the perfect opportunity for a vet to take on a Lead Vet Role.

The Practice:

Our client is a community of passionate veterinary professionals committed to providing truly exceptional care. They are set on building something extraordinary: creating the most forward-thinking and innovative place in the veterinary industry. Their mission to deliver progressive, around-the-clock care means their employees have the very best equipment and treatment options available, including in-house MRI machines and state-of-the-art operating theatres.

They provide ongoing support to their teams, both in practice and through a dedicated training centre. This empowers you to get the very best from the advanced equipment while being on your journey to veterinary excellence.

Although this is a sole vet practice there is a mobile Vet and Graduate Veterinary Surgeons who also visit the practice. You will be supported by a Student Veterinary Nurse and Practice Coordinator/SVN. The clinic feeds into a 24-hr hospital for all out-of-hours care.

The Role and Candidate:

This is a full-time permanent role where you will be working a 4-day week with 1:3 half or 1:6 full weekends at the 24-hr hospital. You will be included on a fair share bank holiday and on-call rota.

Joining our clients' professional, personable team in the practice, you’ll deliver exceptional care by going beyond consulting to listen and empathising, putting patients and clients first, always.

As well as your day-to-day duties within practice caring for your patients and clients, you will play a key role in leading and managing the team. You will have the drive and ambition to develop the practice client base, ensuring high standards of care are always delivered.

As a qualified MRCVS, you’ll already have good experience gained in small animal practice. You’ll be competent in clinical examination and surgery and confident working in sole charge or as part of the wider team. Sharing our clients' values being trustworthy, caring, and progressive, you will have all the softer skills essential to working effectively and empathetically, such as good communication skills, mediation experience, and the ability to share knowledge and lead by being an outstanding, positive example to others.

The Package:

In return, our client is offering an excellent package that includes:

  • Salary dependent on experience
  • Accommodation allowance
  • Vehicle or vehicle allowance
  • £1,500 CPD allowance plus 3-days CPD leave,
  • RCVS, VDS, and BVA membership.
  • 5 weeks annual leave plus bank holidays.
