Permanent New Graduate Veterinary Surgeon - Blackburn

  • Lancashire has a good mix of rural vs city, and it boasts some of the best-hidden gems of walking country and a broad selection of traditional pubs 

Practice Type: Part of a group - they are a 19-branch practice situated across Lancashire.

Facilities/Services:

  • They have 6 operating branches in addition to their main RCVS accredited hospital
  • All their branches are accredited by the RCVS under the Practice Standards Scheme.
  • they are a well-equipped multi-site practice with a CT scanner, Endoscopy, Digital X-ray, Dental radiography, and multiple surgical suites as well as an onsite hydrotherapy centre.

Team: Their core senior team is made up of certificate holders in Medicine, Dermatology, Ophthalmology, and Surgery and they actively encourage and support Certificate study. They have a talented team of 25 Veterinary Surgeons, 15 Registered Veterinary Nurses, and 5 Animal Nursing Assistants. 

The Role: This 1st Opinion, Referral, and Hospital practice based in Blackburn are looking to support a New Graduate Small Animal Vet.  

Hours: 

  • Full-time role - rota will be discussed in the interview
  • Initially, graduates would work 1 in 4 Saturdays only alongside a senior Vet and another.
  • Then they would (once happy) progress to working a daytime rota and 1 in 4 (minimum) back shift rota 7 pm – 1 am alongside the Vets Now team so they are fully supported at all times.

Support: The New Graduate will be supported by a team of senior vets that will provide support and advice for the Graduate. The nursing team is also very proactive in assisting the new graduates in developing their animal handling and day one skills. The practice will support the Graduate with certificates if desired. Fantastic social events in and outside of the practice as well as great communication, keeping all staff in the loop at all times.

Salary: Competitive Salary starting at £30,000 p/a
