Permanent Night Veterinary Surgeon - Watford
We are working with a 24-hour small animal veterinary practice that is looking for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join their dedicated night team. For this role, you will be a qualified MRCVS, that will already be an experienced Night Vet or have experience within ECC, and you are dedicated to delivering outstanding emergency and critical care to your patients
In our clients' region they have 19 branches, all of which feed into the 24-hr hospital for out-of-hours care, the hospital can have up to 20 inpatients a night. The hospital is well equipped and will soon be home to a new CT machine! In this role you will be working alongside an experienced RVN with access to the on-call rota should you require additional support. Watford has good transport links from Watford Junction Station, including a direct link to London Euston.

The Role and Candidate:

This busy hospital boasts fully equipped theatres, blood analysis machines, digital radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, CT, and more! Their 5-vet day team has certificate holders in Medicine, Imaging, and Surgery. Together with 12 nurses and care assistants, they provide diagnostic workups and management of complex medical and surgical cases to16 satellite clinics and beyond.
As a night vet, you will provide emergent care for patients presenting after hours, as well as ongoing medical care to hospitalised patients. You will be supported by a dedicated team including a Registered Veterinary Nurse and Patient Care Assistant.
This role works to a 7-on, 21-off rota (Monday - Sunday, 9 pm-7 am) and attracts a very generous remuneration package (depending on experience) plus RCVS, VDS, and BVA membership.
Skills and experience:
- The successful candidate will have a minimum of 2 years experience in small animal practice, confident and experienced in working sole-charge and dealing with emergent medical and surgical cases.
- Candidates holding or working towards a Certificate in ECC are preferred but such qualifications are not a requirement. They are dedicated to clinical development and will provide support and a generous CPD allowance to assist the successful candidate in working towards an ECC qualification if desired.
- You must have a full UK driver's licence.
