Permanent OOH Registered Veterinary Nurse - Leeds

Type: Small Animal

Location: Leeds, West Yorkshire

Practice: Part of a group

  • 24-hour hospital and emergency service centre which is a family-run, award-winning practice.
  • They are a family-run, RCVS Accredited Hospital and Emergency Service Clinic, providing OOH and referral support to 19 referring surgeries.
  • This is run alongside a thriving first opinion business meaning they get the best of both worlds: the case variety you expect to find in a busy general practice and the opportunity to provide high-quality, advanced, referral-level care to their patients in-house.
  • With an experienced team of 67 colleagues, an abundance of qualifications in a range of disciplines (ECC, Small Animal Surgery, Medicine, and Dentistry), and a fantastic management network to provide support and progression opportunities they really believe there is no better team to be a part of.

Role: Our client is looking for an OOH Registered Veterinary Nurse to join their dedicated night team.

Skills/Exp: As part of the night team, they are looking for someone who is highly skilled, and can confidently oversee multiple cases from different disciplines. Given the varied nature of the cases, they are looking for a nurse who is experienced in managing cases which include: oesophageal feeding tube care, chest drains, abdominal and wound drains, urinary catheters, and negative pressure wound therapy.

Duties:

  • Their patients will include medical patients receiving hospital care, post-surgical patients, and emergency patients.
  • As they see emergency appointments alongside their hospital patients, the shift caseload can vary and the need to monitor complex anaesthetics such as caesarian sections, GDVs, and exploratory laparotomies is required.
  • They have multiparameter monitors as standard, alongside a Veta5 ventilator system. Given the type of cases and complexity of care, they feel that someone who already has, or is working towards a certificate in emergency nursing is essential for this role.

Hours: Their rota pattern is 7 nights on, 14 nights off rota, with each shift running from 8 pm to 8 am. There is always a Vet on-site, alongside a VCA, with the support from our twilight nurses who aid the transition between the day and night team.

Salary: The salary on offer is dependent upon experience

Benefits: They offer the excellent benefits package you would expect from a leading veterinary employer including:

  • In-house support and training from certificate holders- Vet and Nurse
  • Paid memberships- RCVS, VDS, BVNA
  • Generous CPD allowance and support development of specific interests
  • Pension, income protection, life insurance
  • Access to reward hub giving exclusive discounts across a range of high street retails, supermarkets, and more
