Permanent Registered Veterinary Nurse - Chelmsford

Type: Small Animal

Location: Chelmsford

Practice Type: Part of a group

Facilities: They are a veterinary nursing training practice and have their RCVS practice standards accreditation. Their spacious surgery is purpose-built to industry-leading standards and has state-of-the-art equipment including digital x-ray, dental x-ray, and high-spec ultrasound. They have 3 consultation rooms, a dedicated operating theatre, lab area, prep room, and separate dog, cat, and isolation wards.

Team: The current team consists of 4 Vets, 5 RVNs, 2 SVNs, 2 VCAs, 3 receptionists, and a practice manager and admin team. They are hugely supportive of each other and take pride in the strong relationships they have built, and continue to build, with a large and loyal client base.

Role: The nursing team is encouraged to work closely with the vets but also alongside each other and the rest of the team, to utilise their skills to the full potential within the RVN qualification to achieve maximum job satisfaction. Their JVP is keen to offer support to all of the team and encourage any specific areas of interest.

Hours: This is a full-time or part-time role. They are happy to be flexible with hours and shift patterns for candidates looking for part-time work, but engagement in the weekend rota will be required.

  • The full-time rota consists of an average of 40 hours per week.
  • Lieu days will be provided for each weekend worked and there are no out-of-hours duties or on-call, allowing you to enjoy an excellent work/life balance.
  • Weekday shifts vary between 8.30 am and 7.30 pm and you will be required to work 1 full weekend every 5 weeks.

Candidate: They are ideally looking for a veterinary nurse with some previous experience and who will be confident in all areas of general nursing. The practice also has a higher than average level of small furry exotic patients so there are plenty of opportunities to gain experience in this area.

In return, they offer:

  • Generous CPD allowance
  • Competitive salary (£23,000 - £28,000 FTE per anum)
  • Standard annual leave allowance of 28 days including bank holidays rising to 33 days including bank holidays after 2 full years of service (pro-rata)
  • Contributory pension scheme
  • Paid RCVS membership
  • Supportive and friendly work environment
  • Exclusive company discounts and rewards
