Permanent Registered Veterinary Nurse - Cheshire

We are currently recruiting on behalf of an independent practice in the Northwich area of Cheshire, that due to expansion is recruiting for a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join their team on a full-time permanent basis.

The Practice:  

The practice has been caring for pets across Cheshire since 1999 and expanded across two sites in 2001. 

Both sites are self-contained and well equipped and they are committed to keeping up to date with the latest developments in modern veterinary practice providing quality treatment at sensible prices. 

Across both sites, the practice has a dedicated team of 22 staff including 6 Vets, and offers a comprehensive range of medical services. Both branches are fully self-contained with hospitalisation facilities with in-house labs, a wide range of facilities for routine procedures, X-rays, ultrasound, endoscopy, and ECG.

The Role and Candidate: 

This is a permanent full-time position, where you will be working 37.5 hours per week plus 1 in 4 Saturday or Sunday morning rota. No OOH. 

You will be a qualified Veterinary Nurse that is registered with the RCVS. You will work well as part of a team and have excellent communication skills with both clients and colleagues alike.

They have two sites approximately 10 miles apart

Responsibilities of the job include:

  • Monitoring anaesthetics, administering drugs and medication

  • Preparing animals for surgery

  • Holding and monitoring animals during operations

  • Maintaining, sterilising, and laying out surgical equipment

  • Cleaning up after surgery

  • Undertaking diagnostic tests

  • Preparing and sending off laboratory samples

  • Taking X-Rays

  • Caring for, exercising and grooming animal ‘in-patients’

  • Giving advice to owners about caring for and breeding animals

  • Nurse clinics

  • Keeping records

  • Writing and filing reports

Requirements:

  • Qualified Vet Nurse

  • Registered with RCVS

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Team player

  • Confident in all areas of general small animal nursing

  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude
