Permanent Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon, Pembrokeshire

We are working with a mixed veterinary group in the Pembrokeshire area that due to expansion is looking for an ambitious and energetic full-time small animal veterinary surgeon the join them on a permanent basis.

The Practice:

Our client's vision is to be a premier small animal veterinary practice, with a highly trained and contented team. They aim to provide high-quality evidence-based veterinary care, with compassion. Located in Pembrokeshire, West Wales, surrounded by beautiful beaches, country walks, and the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, they are very much a rural practice. Their main small animal surgery Offers surgery, dentistry, internal laboratory, ultrasound, radiography, and endoscopy. One of their branches has an internal laboratory, dentistry, and surgical facilities and is the site of the aquatic treadmill for hydrotherapy, and where rehab/physio nurses are based.

Although rural, they pride themselves on providing a first-class small animal service, being able to practice excellent medicine with great clients. The small animal client base does have a bias towards dogs, but they see plenty of cats, small furries, and the occasional exotic and bird.

The Role:

They are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Veterinary Surgeon to join their supportive team. The full-time vets work a 4 day week working from a rolling rota which is always done well in advance giving a good work-life balance. The time between theatre and consultations is split evenly, usually giving at least 2 days in theatre and 2 days on consultations. Shared weekends on a rota basis and no OOH.

It is essential that you are a confident clinician with good communication skills and a willingness to promote a high standard of clinical work and client/patient care. In addition to your excellent clinical skills, you will need to be a people-oriented person, who is willing to support and guide your colleagues.

The Package:

They are a friendly and experienced team of vets and staff who will be able to provide you with the support you need to develop your skills whilst working in this busy practice, allowing you some choice in your clinical pathway.

In return for all your hard work and dedication, our client is offering a competitive package that includes:

  • 6.6 weeks holiday including bank holidays
  • 5 days paid CPD leave
  • £1250 CPD Allowance per annum
  • Private Medical Insurance
  • VDS Membership paid
  • BVA Membership paid
  • Service-based holiday entitlement increases
  • Enhanced maternity, adoption, shared parental leave, and surrogacy pay
  • Enhanced paternity pay
