Permanent Surgical Veterinary Surgeon - Newport

Type: Small Animal

Location: Newport, Wales

Practice Type: The group has 10 sites and 25 FTE vets across South Wales, with the main clinic acting as a key hub for surgical and medical cases. There is a genuinely brilliant caseload and a great opportunity to work towards a certificate if desired.

Facilities: Their surgery has all the usual toys, including an ultrasound scanner, endoscope, k-lazer, a well-equipped in-house laboratory, multi-parameter, tonopen, digital x-ray, and dental x-ray.

They have a number of certificate holders within their group which includes diagnostic imaging, surgical, medical, and dermatology, enabling them to offer a strong support network.

Role: They are looking for a Surgical Veterinary Surgeon to join their group. Their ideal candidate will be someone with advanced surgical experience, having a surgical certificate would be an advantage.

Hours:  The role would ideally be full-time working 40hr per week over 4 days, but they would consider part-time for the right candidate.

Shifts: Their shift patterns are between 8 am and 8 pm Monday-Friday worked out on a fair rota basis. Saturday shifts are shared evenly meaning you would work 1 in 5 Saturdays between 8 am to 4 pm. There are no OOH or Bank Holidays as these are covered by their emergency care provider VetsNow.

  • You would be comfortable taking on routine and emergency consulting shifts, theatre shifts, and inpatient care and be willing to accept internally referred surgical jobs from the other sites in the group
  • Someone who would be willing to coach the Junior vets alongside the clinical directors and other senior vets would be a bonus.

Salary: The salary range is up to £65,000 p/a depending on experience.
