We are currently recruiting on behalf of an excellent practice in Buckinghamshire who is looking for a small animal Veterinary Surgeon to join their team on a permanent basis. They have had the privilege of caring for animals in the local community for over 50 years and the position would suit a Vet with a minimum of 5 years’ experience. The practice is offering an excellent salary of £40,000 - £50,000 per annum dependent on experience.
Our clients aim is to provide high-quality veterinary services for clients and patients, develop personal clinical skills to achieve practice goals of clinical excellence. Their facilities include a modern, inviting reception and waiting area, clean well-lit consulting rooms, fully computerised patient records and billing system, two fully-equipped operating theatres, separate kennel and cattery area for day cases and in patients, and they are a Veterinary nurse approved training centre, Skin Microscopy, In-house Laboratory, Ultrasound, Endoscopy, Electrocardiography (ECG), X-ray facilities and Automatic Film Processors. All of their team members share a passion to provide their clients and their pets with the best care and service possible.
The role is full-time working 4.5 days per week, with the typical rota of:
Monday 9 am – 5.30 pm
Tuesday 9 am – 8 pm + on call
Wednesday 8 am – 12 pm or 9 am – 1 pm
Thursday 11 am – 8 pm
Friday by rotation.
You will be contracted to 1 x on call per week, however, the practice is well staffed so, in reality, this is fortnightly. The weekend rota consists of 7 Half weekends per annum (Friday evening surgery, on-call then until Saturday around 2 pm), and 7 full weekends per annum (full day Saturday Circa 8.30 am - 6.30 pm and Sunday 8.30 am – 5.30 pm, no on call and home in time for supper!)
You will be primarily based at their main branch but may be required to cover at the branch surgeries once settled in.
You will be required to promote animal welfare through client education and preventative medicine in accordance with practice policies. You will be required to encourage and maintain a caring, professional and conscientious attitude to clients, patients, and colleagues at all times, with strong organisational skills and self-management. A High standard of people skills teamed with excellent levels of communication and observation is expected, the ability to answer questions and offer advice and the ability to work independently or as part of a team in a busy environment. It is essential that it is recognised that you may be dealing with clients and patients in challenging situations.
In return, the practice can offer a competitive salary £40,000 - £50,000 (DOE) with considerable practice perks, profit share scheme, and even your birthday off (if it falls on a Monday – Friday working day)

The position would suit a candidate with a minimum of 5 years’ experience, a post-graduate certificate is preferred or a desire to study such a qualification, this would be fully funded by the practice. A keen interest in Ultrasonography and cardiology would be advantageous.
