We have a fantastic opportunity for a full-time veterinary surgeon to start at a busy practice in Manchester on a permanent basis.
This well-established independent veterinary practice can be found in an easily accessible location in Lancashire.
This a small animal practice and the service that they provide encompasses all facets of first opinion companion animal care provided by a team of Veterinary Surgeons, Veterinary Nurses and support staff who they are very proud of.
Each surgery is recognised under the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) Accreditation Scheme which effectively offers Quality Assurance to their customers and Staff. They provide a sensitive, competitively priced, approachable and quality service with an emphasis on client and animal care.
This position is predominantly based between two sites, circa 2 days per week at each. On Saturday mornings, and occasionally at other times, you may be asked to work at our clients' other practices. This will normally be to cover sickness, CPD leave etc.
During every full week of work (Monday to Friday), there will be one day off, one late night surgery (consults to 9 pm) and the remaining finishes will be between 6.30 and 7 pm, occasionally earlier. Weekends are on a seven-week rota basis with three weekends off, three weekends working Saturday mornings, one with a 2 pm finish, one with a 3 pm finish. Work one Sunday in seven, 9.30 am to 3.00 pm
Consultations are by appointment, usually 10 minutes, 15 minutes for annual health examinations/ boosters.
At the main surgery, there are usually two sometimes three vets working. At the branch surgeries, consults are until 11 or 12 with a few operations afterward. Each surgery has a Nurse Manager / Head Nurse who looks after the day to day affairs and supervisory staff management, so the vets can concentrate on being a vet and clinical matters.
All 4 surgeries are fully equipped with laboratory, theatre, US scanners and radiography facilities. At a branch, the candidate would be a sole vet but other vets are all accessible by telephone and more major surgery is often internally referred to the main surgery. Our client has had an unsettled period with many locums and is looking to create more stability with permanent staff.
Our client is looking for a friendly, professional vet to fit with both the staff and the clientele; someone generating enthusiasm by example, happy, efficient, who can focus on clinical matters whilst recognising that we are a business focused on excellent client care and communication. Excellent interpersonal relationships with staff are essential. General all round medical competence is essential, surgically they would expect them to be able to do all routine neutering, Caesars, simple bowel surgery, splenectomy etc. CPD is actively encouraged and the practice would support someone wanting to any type of relevant certificate.
