Permanent Veterinary Surgeon - Basildon, Essex

Team Info: You will be joining the current supportive team of 5 vets, 5 registered veterinary nurses, 2 student nurses, 3 veterinary care assistants, 5 receptionists, 1 client account manager, and 1 practice manager. They hold a variety of individual interests within the team including orthopaedics, internal medicine, and diagnostic imaging, vets who have completed their certificates and who are working towards it. They offer a generous CPD allowance and are happy to support the sponsorship of certificates or further studies for the right candidate.

Facilities: They have recently completed their practice expansion and have added additional surgical theatre and consulting rooms and a large reception waiting area which will enable us to offer better services. 

They see a real variety of cases with a ratio of approx. 60:40 dogs to cats. They perform lots of orthopaedic procedures in-house including patella luxation, fracture repairs, and cruciate surgeries with TPLO and they also carry out a wide variety of soft tissue surgery.  

Role: This thriving small animal surgery in Basildon is seeking a veterinary surgeon to join their friendly and established team! 

Hours: They can consider full or part-time hours (min. 27 hours) with a 1 in 4-5 weekend rota (Saturday and Sunday). There is no OOH responsibility with this role however you will be confident to carry out sole charge duties.

Applicant Requirements:

  • They are looking for a 2-3 yr experienced vet with considerable surgical experience who is confident of handling a variety of surgical caseloads.
  • Orthopaedic experience is not necessary but would be an added bonus.
  • The candidate would be able to also learn advanced orthopaedic surgeries in-house like TPLO.
  • There will be opportunities to mentor younger vets.

Salary: Competitive salary - £40,000 - £60,000 (depending on experience, skills matrix or certificate completion)
