Permanent Veterinary Surgeon - Cardiff
Type: Small animal
Location: Rhiwbina, Cardiff
Practice Type: Part of a group
Facilities: They are a well-established, first-opinion practice based in Cardiff, with access to an excellent mix of countryside and city life! Across the 3 branches, they are well-equipped with an in-house lab, digital x-ray, K laser, u/s scanner, Laparoscopic and endoscopic equipment, and dental x-ray. The facilities allow them to do as much as they can in-house, allowing the vet full clinical freedom.
Team:The team is made up of 5 vets, 6 nurses, and a dedicated support function including the experienced practice manager. Across the team they have a wealth of experience so there is good support both surgically and medically.
Role:An excellent opportunity for a Lead Vet to join their friendly team. Every day at the practice is different, you will carry out 15-minute consults, with time to read up on cases and call clients, so they don’t leave at the end of a day with a long to-do list! Due to the sole charge, they are looking for some experience in consulting, the role will also include some surgery time, but this can be altered if you prefer the medical aspect. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving excellence in customer service and clinical care whilst promoting pet wellbeing, delivering preventive services, and treating sick and injured pets.
Applicant Requirements:An experienced veterinary surgeon is required, ideally, with leadership and management knowledge and relevant experience preferred but mentoring and support are available. You will have strong communication, organisational, and people management skills, and an understanding that as a senior vet, you must lead by example. Knowledge of veterinary finance is highly desirable. RCVS membership and the right to work in the UK are essential. A clean driver’s license is required.
Hours: The working day is 9 am-7 pm with a lunch break in the middle. They use a dedicated emergency service, so you don’t do nights or weekends, (other than rota’s Saturday mornings 9 am-1 pm). They want the staff to have an excellent work/life balance, the full-time vets work a 4-day week and always get the same day off each week so this can be achieved.
Salary: The salary is up to £80,000 + benefits (subject to experience).
