Permanent Veterinary Surgeon - Chelmsford

Type: Small Animal

Location: Chelmsford area of Essex

Practice Type: Independent Practice - with three branches. This position will be based at their Main branch with the occasional day at their smaller branches if it is needed to cover holidays. 

Team: They are looking to find another Veterinary Surgeon to join their team of Veterinary Surgeons, RVNs, SVNs, VCA, and Receptionists. 

Facilities:

  • They have DR and dental radiography, multi-parameters anaesthetic monitors, Doppler blood pressure monitors, capnography, tonopen, high-spec. ultrasound machine, rigid endoscope, gastroscope and bronchoscope, bair huggers for all their patients under anaesthesia, dedicated dental suite, an in-house laboratory with endocrinology, and Sedivue urine analyser.
  • They have separate dog, cat, and exotics wards that minimises the patient’s stress when in for an operation, procedure, or hospitalisation. They have a separate isolation ward if required.
  • They work in an air-conditioned building that provides all-round comfort for man and beast, alike! Their clients love the large car park, enabling stress-free parking.
  • They have a varied caseload, primarily dogs and cats with rabbits and the occasional exotic pet. They have a visiting peripatetic orthopaedic/soft tissue surgeon and cardiologist that enables them to offer the highest level of care in-house

Role: They are looking for a vet who is progressive, friendly, caring, communicative, and a team player to complement their 9-vet team (making it up to 10 again) that wants to offer an outstanding service to patients and clients.

Hours:

  • This is a full-time position of 40 hrs per week which can be worked over 4 days or 5 days each week.
  • Their opening hours are 8 am to 7 pm Monday to Friday, 8 am to 4 pm on Saturdays, and 10 am to 4 pm on Sundays. (Weekends worked on a rota basis).
  • Weekend work - 2 weekends in every 8 weeks, with days off in lieu
  • Bank holidays are worked on a rota system, averaging 1 day/year, with time of in-lieu
  • No OOHs with 1 evening check pw (only if required)
  • Support is provided (and essential), with everybody sharing and reviewing caseloads, and having open dialogue and conversations.
  • Well-organised weekly rota that is available 2 months in advance

Skills/Exp: This could suit an experienced new grad, but ideally, a minimum of 2 years of experience is required.

Salary: Competitive salary, from £30,000 -£65,000 p/a depending on experience, based on a 40-hour week
