Permanent Veterinary Surgeon - Galashiels

We are working with a small animal practice based in the beautiful Galashiels area of the Scottish Borders that is looking for a Veterinary Surgeon to join them on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role that would suit a candidate that is comfortable in a sole charge role and most routine surgeries.

The Practice:

Our client has been established for over ten years and the practice has a wealth of experience within their dedicated team. They have steadily grown in size and expertise, and now have six full and part-time vets, three qualified nurses, and five support staff.

All of their branches have been recently renovated and have benefited from continuous investment in new equipment. In 2015, they gained the Cat-Friendly Clinic silver award from the International Society of Feline Medicine, the veterinary division of International Cat Care. The following year, the practice achieved accreditation by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons at the General Practice level.

The practice is recognised as a Vet Nurse Training Practice after achieving a standard high enough to be entrusted with developing the next generation of veterinary nurses.

The Role and Candidate:

The successful candidate will have completed their PDP and is likely to have a minimum of two years’ experience in a small animal environment. The position comprises just a 4 day week with only 1 in 4 Saturday mornings and no OOH requirements. This leaves plenty of time to enjoy the benefits of living in such a beautiful location, with numerous outdoor activities such as hill walking, horse riding, or mountain biking on the doorstep, and evenings spent in one of Europe’s most historic capitals, Edinburgh; via a 45-minute train journey, running until Midnight.

The ideal candidate will be confident with occasional sole charge, and most routine surgery, and will thrive in a team environment.

The Package:

In return, our client is offering a package that is reflective of the experience and skills you bring to the practice, which includes a competitive salary of between £34,000-£46,000 p/a.
