Permanent Veterinary Surgeon - Leigh, Greater Manchester

Type: Small Animal

Location: Leigh, Greater Manchester

Practice: Part of a group - The practice enjoys close transport links to Manchester and Liverpool, and the nearby M6 provides easy access to the lakes and peak district, offering the best of both worlds.

Facilities: This bright, air-conditioned surgery is purpose-built to industry-leading standards and has state-of-the-art equipment including Digital x-ray, ultrasound, blood machines, and tonometry. They run 20-minute consults as standard and have a separate cat consulting room. They are RCVS accredited, hold the ISFM silver cat-friendly award, and are working towards their RWAF accreditation. They are also keen to learn new things from you, if you have previously done CPD, they want to hear all about it!

Team: The team currently consists of a full-time JVP/vet surgeon (currently enrolled in an ophthalmology certificate), 1 newly graduated Vet, 2 RVNs, 2 SVNs, and a Practice Manager (who works hard to allow you to be a vet), and 2 Receptionists.

Role: Due to one of their current vets leaving to pursue her career as a dermatologist specialist, they are looking for a Veterinary Surgeon to join their team, and this would suit a consulting vet, or someone interested in both consulting and surgery.

Hours: They are offering a full-time position working 40 hours per week including 1 in 3 weekends, which would be spread over 3 x 10-hour shifts and 1 x 8-hour shift. They can also accommodate a part-time vet should this be more suitable for you. They are also flexible with the shifts, should you need to go to an appointment or pick the kids up, they can work around you.

OOHs: None

Environment: They pride themselves on creating an environment that allows colleagues to have clinical freedom, develop their own areas of interest and maintain a supportive, no-blame culture. They welcome new ideas and are continuously updating practice protocols. Fully funded certificates and partnership opportunities are a real possibility for the right candidate.

Applicant Requirements: If you share their passion for delivering outstanding pet healthcare and great customer service and would like to join their team, we would love to hear from you.

Salary: Competitive salary of £40,000 - £50,000 per annum, commensurate with experience

Benefits Package:

  • Excellent career opportunities and development due to their varied caseload
  • Contributory pension scheme
  • Generous CPD and funding of certificates for the right candidate
  • Paid memberships (RCVS, VDS),
  • In practice Mental Health First Aiders are able to provide the support you may require
