Permanent Veterinary Surgeon - North Walsham, Norfolk

Location: North Walsham, Norfolk
Practice: They are a small animal and exotics practice that also offers referral services for exotic pets, CT scanning, laser therapy, physiotherapy, and Dermatology and care for a couple of local zoo collections. They also provide vet services for a local RSPCA clinic 1.5 days a week to support their local community. Their consults are 15 minutes with 30 minutes for euthanasia or more complex cases etc. Their vets also have protected admin time.
Team: They are looking for a 5th Veterinary surgeon to expand their current 4 vet team. Their vets have a great support team including 10 RVNs.
Facilities/Services:
- They are proudly independent and strive to offer fantastic patient and client care.
- They are accredited Gold Feline Friendly and Gold Rabbit Friendly and are proud to have won the Burgess Rabbit Practice of the Year award.
- The practice has a separate cat, dog, and exotic pet waiting areas and wards, dedicated operating theatres and prep room, laser therapy unit, on-site C.T. scanner, digital x-ray, dental x-ray, ultrasound, video endoscopy, tonometry, multiparameter units, etc and a memory garden.
- One of the Directors spends part of the week in a Zoo and often you will see unusual animals in the practice - like Red Pandas
Role: They are seeking a veterinary surgeon with a passion for patient and client care and a friendly approachable personality. They are open to a medical or surgical bias or a consult-only role.
Hours: They would be able to accommodate a full-time (4-day week) or part-time role for the right candidate. Their days include an hour's lunch break and additional time for admin/lab reports/phone calls.
OOHS: They do provide out-of-hours care for their clients as this helps them to provide the highest standard of care for patients but their on-call is very quiet.
Candidate:
- Experience in exotics is beneficial but definitely not essential!
- Their 4 vets all have many years of experience so they can support a newer graduate or help a less confident/experienced vet grow their skills and fulfill their dreams.
- All their vets have particular areas of interest and they are happy to support, invest and encourage these.
- You will have the independence to work up and treat your own cases but also full support whenever needed.
Salary: They offer a very generous salary dependent on experience
