Permanent Veterinary Surgeon, Rhondda Cynon Taff

Our client is looking for a small animal Veterinary Surgeon to join them on a full-time permanent basis. Whilst this role is aimed at a New Graduate Vet the practice is open to candidates with more experience as well.

Role: Permanent Veterinary Surgeon

Type: Small Animal

Location: Rhondda Cynon Taff

Practice: Small Animal - Independent Practice

Team: They are a smaller team (27-ish of us now) which means more direct contact between all the staff that makes the business work. A smaller team makes them more agile and they often have vet and staff meetings which result in actual changes to the diary and working system and patterns.

Services: 3 of their 7 RVNs (soon to be 8 plus another SVN) have spent many years with them and been trained in-house so they know the practice inside out. They practice a wide and deep range of first opinion GP staff and while they do refer when needed they have the capability and desire to do lots in-house – 1 of the vets is halfway through a surgery certificate focusing on orthopaedics; and they also don’t shy away from in-depth workups, chemotherapy, etc.

Hours: For full-time positions – 4 days a sub-40hr week, with a fixed day off, 1 in 3 Sat AM with time off in lieu, no OOH, no Sundays.

Consults: 15min appointment times, no consult block longer than 2 hours. It can get busy but there is ringfenced time through the day for lunch, catch-up times, phone calls, etc.

Support: As a new grad they have a dedicated VetGDP adviser waiting for you, the dedicated time assigned away from clinical work to spend with them and they can help design an intensive first-year CPD plan to maximise your potential.

Applicant Requirements: You will be an all-around surgeon. A specialist area/ certificate would be very appealing to our client's team - especially a Vet with a surgical bias. They are looking for a colleague who strives to provide gold standard veterinary care to their patients and clients.

Salary: New grad salary £32,000 p/a (rising to £35,000 after 6 months).

Salary: 6 months Exp + £35,000-£60,000 p/a (dependent on a skills and experience)

Benefits: RCVS/BVA/BSAVA/VDS and dedicated CPD plan
