Permanent Veterinary Surgeon/Senior Veterinary Surgeon - Cambridgeshire

Practice: Part of a group - They are a busy first opinion practice that has a wide variety of cases

Sole charge: Yes

Team Info: They have a 6 Vet team, all general practitioners with their own areas of interest with enhanced knowledge within these areas. The Vets enjoy discussing cases of interest amongst themselves and use each other’s knowledge to enhance patient care. There is a visiting orthopaedic specialist who is usually here weekly that vets can be involved with. They have a 7 Nurse team, again they have areas of interest, with nurses specialising in wound care, ISFM certificate, and Emergency and Critical care.

Facilities: They have a purpose-built building in the lovely rural area of Ely, Cambridgeshire, with a large range of veterinary equipment such as X-rays, ultrasound, endoscopes, and dental x-ray. We have an experienced and supportive team that works together to create a positive working environment.

Role:

  • They are looking for a full-time or part-time Veterinary Surgeon to join their family-feel practice.
  • Their current Veterinary Surgeons consult throughout the day, with at least 1 full operating day per week. There is significant time allocated in the diary for liaising with clients, reporting results, and case discussions.
  • There is a minimum of 3 Veterinary Surgeons working per day (usually 4) which enables the team to support each other fully.
  • You will generally work a 4-day week of 41 hours.
  • The role includes 1 in 6 consulting Saturday shifts and 1 in 4 inpatient responsibility consulting Saturday shifts. There are 2 vets on duty on a Saturday. 
  • There will be no out-of-hours.

Applicant Requirements:

  • Ideally, the candidate will be at least 2 years qualified, be competent and/or confident in routine medical and surgical cases or be a more experienced/senior vet, to be a part of this forward-thinking and progressive practice.
  • They are looking for a friendly Veterinary Surgeon who enjoys working in a close team.
  • Experience would be ideal as well as confidence with surgery however training and support can be given.
  • In addition to your excellent clinical and communication skills, you will need to be a people-oriented person, who is willing to support and guide your colleagues.

Salary: Competitive salary £34,000-£60,000+ p/a (DOE)
