Permanent Veterinary Surgeon - Staines, Middlesex

Type: Small Animal

Location: Staines, Middlesex

Practice: They are an 8 site independent practice based around Staines-Upon-Thames and the role would be based at their main hospital site and one of the branches.

Team: The vet team is comprised of 13 vets with a range of experience including post-graduate certificates (Surgery, Dermatology) and AVP status (Surgery). CPD including certificate study is actively encouraged and they have other colleagues studying for diagnostic imaging, surgery, and cardiology certificates.

Facilities: With the equipment that they have and experience within the team, they are fortunate to be able to work cases up to a high level both medically and surgically, keeping 95% of their cases in-house rather than referring. Senior Vets within the practice will support others with cases and the practice is enrolled on the Vet GDP program.

Role Duties: Small Animal First Opinion practice with consults/surgeries at branches, inpatient care, and non-routine procedures/investigations at the main site. CT onsite at Staines with MRI also available offsite.

Shift Pattern: 4 day week with a fixed day off each week

Shift Times: 0830-1900 with no more than one shift a week 0730-1800 (if at Staines)

Flexibility: They will consider Saturday only hours and flexible working.

Out of Hours: 1/9 evening rota until 2130 and Vets Now on site.

They act as a host practice for Vets Now who are based at Staines overnight and at weekends/bank holidays. Therefore there is an equal rota of one vet working later each weekday at Staines until 9:30, to provide continuity of care to practice clients and allow exposure to ECC cases, at which point Vets Now take over the OOH care and management of in-patients overnight. Evening duties, weekends, and Saturdays are on a rota basis.

Weekends: 8-5 Saturday 9-4 Sunday on a rota

Experience/Skills: Ideally some experience and an interest in diagnostic imaging preferable too
