Permanent Veterinary Surgeon, Thornton-Cleveleys, Lancashire

Our client is looking for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join them at their practice in Thorton-Cleveleys on a permanent basis.

The Practice:

This practice is a light, large, purpose-built hospital building. Their large new 12,000 sq foot building houses lots of fantastic equipment including dental X-ray, endoscope, and more. They are also a Vet Nurse training centre. Their caseload is very varied and they often see a good mixture of routine but also more advanced cases. They are exclusively first-opinion small animal, although they do have visiting specialists. They are big on case continuity and where they can, they are always keen to encourage their Vets to reach their full potential. Thornton-Cleveleys is a lovely town, just a 60-minute drive from the beautiful Lake District.

The Role and Candidate:

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join our clients' first opinion 6 Vet team. This is an exciting opportunity to work at a purpose-built, award-winning veterinary practice, set along the Lancashire coast at an exciting time in its history. The majority of their Vets work a 4 day week and 1 in 5 weekends. However, they encourage a work-life balance and would be happy to discuss hours ‘picked by you’ to work around your life and your commitments. The additional bonus is that there is no OOH or on-call required in this role. Your time will be split equally between, Clinical time, Consults, Routine, and non-routine surgery.

The successful applicant will be self-motivated, have sound first opinion experience in both medicine and surgery; (a surgical bias would be an advantage but not essential), provide an exceptional level of care, have a desire to develop clinical acumen, and have strong communication and interpersonal skills.

In return, you will be fully supported by the new Clinical Director whose aim is to provide a happy balanced working environment where Vets will be actively encouraged to follow and develop their own cases, progressing their clinical expertise through daily case discussion, participation in clinical meetings, outcome audits and undertaking focused CPD.
