We are looking for a diploma holder or residency trained anaesthetist to join our clients' team in Derby on a full or part-time permanent basis.
The Practice:
The team consists of three Diplomates (two ECVAA and one ACVAA), one residency-trained fellow and two anaesthesia interns. They are a young team and enjoy working and developing their skills together. The department is supported by a team of experienced theatre nurses and they provide a high standard of care through a great working relationship with other departments.
Our client offers specialist services in anaesthesia, diagnostic imaging, internal medicine, oncology, soft tissue, and orthopaedic surgery, neurology, ophthalmology, cardiology and dermatology, and on-site hydro- and physiotherapy. The state-of-the-art hospital provides 24/7 veterinary care, supported by a dedicated night team. They work closely with the University of Nottingham, with the veterinary students rotating through first opinion and referral services. Their involvement in clinical teaching is up to the availability and inclination to do so. They are located at the edge of Derby city centre with good transport links to major cities via road and rail networks. East Midlands Airport and Birmingham International Airport offer convenient access to domestic and international destinations. The beautiful Peak District is just around the corner where there are lots of walking, climbing, and sightseeing opportunities.
The Role:
The anaesthetists are involved in the day to day clinical tasks of anaesthetising and sometimes sedating patients, assisting other departments with analgesia and critical care and after-hours emergency coverage. They see a wide variety of interesting cases – mainly dogs and cats and the occasional rabbit and exotic. They also have an on-site pain clinic. The anaesthesia team runs weekly tutorials and journal clubs, and the hospital has a weekly clinical club on many different subjects and offers frequent opportunities to deliver and receive in house CPD.
The position can be part-time or full-time to provide for a nice work-life balance, details to be discussed at the interview.
In return, our client offers a competitive salary, dependant on experience and qualifications and generous CPD package and holidays.
The Candidate:
The applicant must have a veterinary degree registrable with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. They would welcome applications from Diplomates of the ECVAA or ACVAA, as well as candidates who have completed college-recognised residencies in anaesthesia.
