We are currently working with an accredited Tier 2 RCVS practice that is looking for a small animal Senior Veterinary Surgeon to join their dedicated team working from their main centre based in Barnsley.
The Practice
This is an accredited Tier 2 RCVS practice that employs 13 vets, 6 fully trained RVNs and 6 nurse care assistants. Their main branch is situated in Barnsley and they have a number of branches not more than 15-20 minutes away in North Sheffield.
The main centre is very comprehensively equipped, EG Ultrasound, Direct Digital Radiography, ECG, Video Endoscopy, Pulse Oximetry, a good range of Orthopaedic equipment etc. There are 4 operating areas all air-conditioned (as is the whole practice).
Although very well equipped, they do not have a purpose built building and thus the practice is on several floors. They are compact but generally find that this is an advantage rather than a disadvantage.
Approximately 15- 30 surgical procedures are completed per day, they perform a very wide range of procedures and these can of course vary from cat castrate to Aural ablation to Fracture repair.
The practice has RX works as the computer software and the whole practice is permanently linked by broadband.
Each of the permanent Vets runs their own branch and receives a bonus based on its turnover.
The Role:
This is a full time permanent Veterinary Surgeon position working hours that vary on which shift you scheduled on - either 08:00 - 17:30 or 10:00 – 19:30. There is a weekend rota of 1:4 in which you will either work a Saturday or Sunday (same shifts as during the week) & 1 night duty per week where you will only be called in for emergencies and for which you will receive a bonus for work done. Accommodation can also be provided for the night duty. The rota is generally 4-8 weeks ahead so days off and weekends worked are known so that leisure activities can be planned, ensure a good work/life balance.
The practice also boasts a really skilled and very loyal bunch of nurses to work to help assist.
The Candidate:
This is a senior position and the practice are looking for someone with 3+ years of experience for this role. It would suit someone who is interested in both medicine and surgery, particularly someone who has a more surgical bias.

Salary: Competitive salary - dependent on experience between £50,000 & £70,000 + a company vehicle [medium sized estate] + Night duty bonus + bonus based on branch turnover + CPD
To qualify for this position you must be fully registered with the RCVS and you must be eligible to work in the UK.
