We are currently recruiting for an independent mixed practice in Halifax, West Yorkshire, who are looking for a confident small animal Veterinary Surgeon to join their team. All levels of experience will be considered although ideally, this post would suit a candidate with a minimum of 2+ years’ experience. 

The Practice:
This practice is well established in the area and works to a 35% small animal/65% equine/large ratio. They are based in a purpose built brand new premises and hold a Tier 2 accreditation from the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons which means that they have a comprehensive range of modern facilities allowing them to provide the highest standard of patient care. They are British Veterinary Hospital 2015 award winners, holding the award for New Build design award. They can tailor care to pet animals to ensure they receive special treatment that reflects how much they mean to their owners. Currently, the small animal team has 8 caring Vets, 5 RVN’s, 5 SVN’s/ANA plus dedicated night staff who are friendly, well organised, supportive and a progressive team. 

The Role:
This is a full-time role working approx. 40-45hours per week. This will be around 4 days per week with shifts of 7.30 am - 3.30/4 pm with the late shift 11:00 am - 7 pm. 

The weekend rota is 1:8. 

The on-call rota is 1:8 which involves a week of on-call however you will start at 4:00 pm each day and then from 7.30 pm you are free to work on call from home providing there are no patients in need of care at that time. 

There is no sole charge for this position and the consult times are 10 minutes. 

The Candidate:
The ideal candidate will have 2 or more years experience, who is approachable, confident and have an excellent bedside manner. An interest in developing in Orthopaedics and/or Soft tissue is desirable. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate their ability to work in a busy practice.  They will be confident and keen to evolve into the role and support 2 more senior vets.   The successful candidate will be able to work on their own initiative plus be able to integrate and become part of the team.  To qualify for this position you must be comfortable with all routine surgery and consults. 

In return, the practice is offering an excellent, competitive salary up to £45,000 
Benefits include: CPD, allowances for OOHs, accommodation & fuel allowance, RCVS/VDS fees and membership to 1 or 2 bodies
Holiday: 25 days + all bank holidays (day off in lieu if rota’d to work a bank holiday).
