We are currently working with an independently run Veterinary Hospital based in West Lothian between Edinburgh and Glasgow who are looking for a full-time Veterinary Surgeons to join their team on a permanent basis.
The practice was established in late nighties and has since developed into the fantastic veterinary hospital that it is today. The founders have a clear vision of providing their clients with a service combining their passion for veterinary medicine, with an enthusiastic, compassionate approach to both patient and client care and with an unwavering determination to provide the highest possible quality in practice standards and client care. The practice gained its status as a Tier 3 Veterinary Hospital and is one of only 7 veterinary hospitals in Scotland.
The hospital has two modern operating theatres, consulting rooms, isolation kennels, reception area, dedicated cat ward, cat recovery room, dog runs, preparation room and dog kennels. They specialise in key-hole surgery, endoscopy, orthopaedics, laser DM X-ray, In-house lab (wet biochem, haematology, epoc, istat etc).
The role is a permanent full-time veterinary surgeon position, working 42 hours over 4.5 days per week. There is 1 night on call per week and a rota of 1 in 4 weekends with time back in lieu the following week.
You will be joining a team of 2 vets, 5 nurses, and 5 admin staff. Working hours are 9 am to 6 pm during the week and Saturdays from 9 am to 1 pm consulting, following which the hospital is closed to the public, but the vet will remain on call for emergency only and for in patient checks until 7.30am on Monday. The vet will also be on call for the Friday evening preceding the weekend on.
The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic and proactive and will share the practice’s drive to provide the highest standards of care and customer service. The practice looking to receive applications from vets with 3+ years’ experience, as the practice is busy during the day, so they would be unable to offer the support required for a less experienced vet. The vet would also need to be competent enough to handle routine cases during on call but can have the support of the principal vet for larger procedures.
