Our client has a unique opportunity for a Registered Veterinary Nurse with a passion for emergency and critical care. The practice is looking for an experienced nurse to join their weekend/out of hours team, the role is full time working 35-40 hours on shifts between Friday night and Monday morning. 

Our client is an independent family run 100% small animal practice based in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham with a supportive and friendly team.

The Practice: 
Our client is a unique single branch veterinary practice in County Durham, that prides themselves on being client focused.
The practice treats small animals, which also includes exotics, they have modern facilities in order to allow their vets to work up their cases thoroughly and follow through the treatment.  Their services include digital x-ray, ultrasound, a fully equipped lab which includes in house urine C&S, T4, and clotting factors to name but a few.
They have a huge focus on helping their staff achieve a good work-life balance.  They also understand the importance of working within a supportive team and provide their staff with training, flexible working hours, adequate rest periods, and respite trips to encourage a healthy working environment for all of their staff.
Our client is looking for a nurse to work within their close knit team who are passionate about the veterinary industry. They are a supportive group of professionals within a growing, independent practice. They have a very close working relationship with the neighbouring referral centre for those more complex cases, offering CT and MRI services amongst others.

The Role: 
This position is full time working in partnership with an experienced veterinary surgeon. The working hours will be discussed and agreed as a team, they will start from 18.30 on Friday evening through to 08.30 Monday morning. It is expected that the hours will total between 35-40 hours over the weekend, with good time off being given in between shifts.

The practice has a surgery on a Saturday which is between 09.30 and 12.30 which is staffed by the daytime team. 

Your responsibilities and duties will include emergency and critical care, general duties, maintaining equipment, ooh and triage calls. If the practice is quiet and they are no in patients to monitor they will also provide a phone and laptop so it will not be necessary to stay in practice and you can cover calls from home and go in if needed.

You will always have the support of the team already in place at this lovely practice and should a night be busy help can always be provided.

The Candidate: 
Our client is looking for a nurse with a passion for emergency and critical care that is looking for a role to make their own. You will either have a certificate for Emergency & Critical Care or looking to work towards this, which they are happy to fund and support you through. 

Excellent communication skills are a must so as to help them continue to nurture their relationships with their clients.

In return, our client is offering a salary of £26,000 which is negotiable should you already have your emergency care certificate. The benefits include CPD funding and support, staff discount and holiday entitlement. When Bank Holidays are due, the cover for these will be discussed and agreed as a team to ensure that clients are given the cover they require.
