Permanent Registered Veterinary Nurse - Kensal Green, London

Type: Small Animal

Location: Kensal Green, London

Practice Type: Independent - This clinic is RCVS accredited and is a training centre for veterinary students at the University of Surrey.

Services: Every dog and cat in need deserves expert, personalised care and support, and to be loved. When you work for this practice, you understand that better than ever. They’re a passionate, committed, and diverse team of c80 staff and c150 volunteers, here for dogs, cats, and communities in the UK, Afghanistan, and in Georgia. They offer expert

veterinary care, rescue, and rehoming services, programs in the community, and guidance and support to improve

the lives of dogs and cats in need

Facilities: In this modern and well-equipped community vet clinic, they provide a range of free-of-charge

preventative veterinary care treatments to those who live in their five-borough framework and who cannot otherwise

afford them, including annual health checks, neutering, vaccinations, parasite control, microchipping, dentals, and

advice and support.

Role: They are looking for a Qualified Veterinary Nurse who is fully registered with the RCVS.

Hours:

  • They would like to appoint two permanent nurses to work in their busy clinic on a rota basis and would be open to part-time and flexible options.
  • Their RVNs usually work 35 hours per week between the hours of 8 am and 5 pm with usual shifts being Monday to Friday and Tuesday to Saturday with the option to have these swapped monthly or periodically.
  • They would require flexibility from time to time to cover weekends, and bank holidays, and out-of-office hours in the event of an emergency.
  • A share of the on-call rota is required, this averages about five nights a month which is paid as overtime.

Support: CPD is funded and encouraged. They offer a caring and supportive team, lots of variety, and the opportunity to make a lasting difference in the lives of dogs, cats, and pet owners who rely on us.

Candidate: They are looking for a Head Nurse who is a qualified RVN with 5 years + PQE, ideally experienced in shelter medicine, who shares their compassion and commitment to animal welfare. The Head Nurse will bring inspirational, progressive, and collaborative leadership to our team of nurses, animal carers, and clinic receptionist.

Generally, you will:

  • Assist Vet Surgeons in the examination and treatment of dogs and cats, providing nursing care and administering treatments to outpatients as part of their neutering and vaccination clinic and to inpatients in their care at the shelter
  • Undertake nursing consultation within the scope of preventative services offered by their clinic
  • Provide excellent customer service to clients including sound and timely advice, extending empathy and understanding to pet owners, and compassion for the welfare of the animals who rely on us at all times

To be successful in this role, you need:

  • To be a qualified RVN registered with the RCVS
  • Experience working in a small animal practice in the UK
  • A professional, friendly, calm, and caring manner.

Salary: They are offering a competitive salary of up to £35,000 p/a (DOE)

Benefits: Full details of the benefits package will be discussed in the interview.
