Hours:

It would be a 4 day week with a mixture of consulting and operating Usually 3 days consulting and 1 ops day.

They do their own OOH which is a 1 in 7 rotas. Weekends are split into a Saturday shift 9-12.30pm consulting in the morning followed by Saturday afternoon for emergency calls and Saturday night. The handover to the Sunday vet is at 8 am Sunday morning. On Sundays, they don’t have any consulting they only cover emergency calls through to Monday morning. They always have a nurse on-site to look after inpatients and take the phones.

The other part of the weekend is Friday night and Saturday morning consulting 9-12.30pm followed by covering the Sunday from 8 am until 9 am Monday morning.

TOIL for weekend work is the following Monday and Friday off following a Sunday on-call and Monday afternoon off following a Saturday on-call. The week prior to the Saturday on call there isn’t a night on call in the week.
