We have a fantastic permanent opportunity for a small animal veterinary surgeon to join a dedicated Out Of Hours Team in Leeds, on a permanent basis.
The Practice:
Our client has been caring for sick animals in West Yorkshire for over 25 years. They set their own very high standards and their objective is simply to provide the best care for pets. Their hospital in Morley is approved and inspected by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons and exceeds the exacting standards necessary to qualify as a veterinary hospital. Several of their vets are certificate holders who specialise in specific areas and are able to perform more detailed investigations and procedures. They are very proud of their expertise and many practices throughout Yorkshire and the North East refer cases to them. Their modern Veterinary Hospital includes the following facilities: Sterile Operating Theatres, Modern Anaesthetic Machines, Endoscope, Ultrasound, In-house Laboratory, Digital X-rays - providing same day results and just as importantly expert interpretation by an experienced veterinary surgeon with a certificate in veterinary radiology - Hospitalisation Facilities, Intensive Care Unit, Oncology Unit human grade Siemans CT scanner. They currently have 8 certificate holders on staff all specialising in different areas.
The Role:
You will be working with a small and dedicated team offering a night service at a gold standard veterinary hospital in Leeds, on a 7 nights on/ 14 off rota basis.
The role will be varied and involve consults (usually up to around midnight, occasionally after then), surgery and inpatient duties. You will be supported by an evening vet who works 2-10pm Mon-Fri and 4pm-midnight Saturday & Sunday and an RVN all night, plus an evening RVN and VCA.
The Candidate:
You will have sufficient experience to be comfortable with emergency surgeries such as GDV, splenectomy, caesarean section, as well as consulting and looking after critical in patients. You will also have excellent communication skills and work well within a team environment.
