A well-established, not-for-profit veterinary group is seeking a dedicated Night Veterinary Surgeon for their clinic in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire.

The Role:

This role is essential for delivering continuous, high-quality Emergency and Critical Care (ECC) during night hours. Ideal candidates will thrive in a fast-paced environment and are committed to making a difference in a supportive, 24-hour operational setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide overnight ECC to a diverse caseload, ensuring consistent, high-quality care for all inpatients.
  • Utilise advanced diagnostic tools such as ultrasound, radiography, and CT during shifts.
  • Collaborate with a skilled night nursing team and consult with veterinary specialists, including surgeons and internal medicine experts.
  • Ensure smooth case transitions between day and night staff, maintaining continuity and quality of care.
  • Actively engage in development and training opportunities to enhance clinical skills.

The Rota: A rota of 7 nights on and 14 nights off, providing an excellent work-life balance. Working within a supportive environment with access to a team of specialists for collaborative case management.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Qualified Veterinary Surgeon with a passion for emergency and critical care.
  • Proven ability to manage diverse and complex cases independently.
  • Strong communication skills, with the capacity to empathise with pet owners during stressful situations.
  • Ability to work cohesively with both day and night team members.
  • Enthusiasm for working in a dynamic, night-time veterinary environment.
  • Must have 1 year of experience in a UK practice
