We are currently working with an RCVS accredited practice based in the Swindon area that is looking to recruit a competent and friendly Veterinary Surgeon on a full-time permanent basis. The team pride themselves on providing a high level of veterinary service while encouraging an open culture to maintain a happy working environment.
The Practice:
This is a busy practice with a vision to be the best first opinion practice in the area offering an exceptional and ethical approach to client care and veterinary treatment to pets and their families. This, at a profit, allows them to be a respected training centre for nurses and with a high level of continuing professional development for all their staff. Their main site is based in Swindon with two branches that are situated about 5 miles from there. All three branches are fully staffed and equipped with operating facilities. Their current dedicated team includes 5 vets, 7 RVNs, 4ANAs, 1 VCA, and 1 SVN plus a strong support team including a practice manager. They have a full range of services and facilities including a fully equipped theatre, ultrasound, dental room, digital X-ray, separate kennels and cattery, orthopaedic surgery, keyhole surgery, and bronchoscopy, soft tissue surgery, K-laser therapy.
The Role:
This is a full-time, permanent role, working 4 days per week. The weekday shifts start at 9.00 - with last consult time at 18.30 with a weekend rota of 1:4 Saturdays 9.00 - 12.00 noon [although this will be extended to include Sunday opening in the future]. The successful candidate would also be part of a 1: 5 rota for inpatient care. No OOHs which are handled by Vets Now and some occasional sole charge. The senior vet is based at their main clinic and the assistant vets will alternate between one of the other branches and their main site. The working day is a mix of consulting, diagnostics, and surgery every day with the vets encouraged to follow up on their own cases as much as possible.
The Candidate:
Suitable candidates must be able to contribute to their provision of high-quality care so medical and surgical skills must be sufficient to cope with the majority of routine cases. A good team player with a special interest would be desirable together with a competent, capable, and caring manner. The successful candidate would be supported and encouraged to pursue further studies [2 of their vets are currently enrolled on certificate programs]
