Permanent Group Nursing Manager - Cambridge

We are working with a group of 6 practices across Cambridgeshire that is looking for an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse to join them as their Group Nursing Manager. You will be responsible for 50+ nurses and have support from 2 Clinical Nurse managers and Lead nurses.

The Practice: 

Our client has a 24hour first opinion small animal hospital with 5 branch surgeries with over 130 staff consisting of managers, vets, nurses, receptionists, admin, accounts, and cleaners. One of many exceptional things about this group is the length of service of many employees. Most of the Veterinary Staff have come straight from graduation and have stayed their entire working career. This is true also of the administration staff, many of whom have been employed for more than 10 years, some more than 20. Their professionalism and friendliness highlight just how they all feel working for this group and their stability has been one of the success secrets of the Practice.

The growth of veterinary knowledge, equipment, medications, and expertise has been incredible over the last 100 years but the principle of integrity in all areas of the Practice. They will always seek to offer the highest standards of veterinary care and compassion for all pets entrusted to them.

The Role and Candidate:

The Group Nursing Manager role is key to the business's ability to provide a high level of clinical standards. This will include strategic, professional, and operational leadership to the nursing team across the practices and also provide a nursing voice at a senior level. 

The Group Nursing Manager will ensure that patients are managed as effectively as possible from a nursing perspective to support the profitability and further growth of the practice. Working enthusiastically with your team you will help maintain a happy, efficient working environment, whilst ensuring practice policies and group policies are adhered to at all times whilst providing outstanding patient and client care.

This position is for a 40-hour working week - Monday to Friday - with weekend work as and when required.

The successful candidate will be overseeing a team of 50+ staff members who are a range of RVN’s, SVN’s, physiotherapists, and PCA’s who work at the main Hospital and their 5 branches. 

Skills and Experience:

Our client is looking for an RVN with at least 7 years of in-practice experience that has experience leading and developing a team. You will have experience of supporting business growth through nursing provisions

Training and coaching and previous staff management. You will have the following skills and abilities:

  • Coaching, mentoring, and support.
  • Excellent listening and communication skills. 
  • Team player.
  • Highly organised with the ability to multitask, plan and prioritise effectively in accordance with business needs. 
  • Proactive and well organised with an eye for detail. 
  • Ability to manage projects through to completion, meeting deadlines and targets. 
  • Remains calm under pressure.
  • Problem-solving.

The Package:

In return, our client is offering a competitive salary between £34,000 - £37,000 (DOE) and benefits package that includes:
