Permanent Large Animal Veterinary Surgeon Surgeon - Gloucester

Practice Type: Part of a group

Team: The team is supported by an excellent office team, a Vet tech, a NACFT Foot trimmer, and 3 dedicated TB testers, allowing the clinical team to provide a high standard of veterinary services to clients. They have regular clinical and whole farm team meetings to support younger Vets and mentoring is actively encouraged. They also have a dedicated Small Animal hospital team that receives all farm OOH calls.

Facilities: The practice has Easi-scan goggles per Vet, BBSE equipment, client training aids, and digital TB testing handhelds, with access to Interherd+, Uniform Agri, and Digifarm. The practice runs frequent client training sessions including DEFRA AI, Foot Trimming and Lameness, Lambing and Medicine training courses. They are privileged to have a progressive client base, always keen on education, training, and health planning. The group has an in-house laboratory with dedicated lab technicians providing advanced diagnostics such as Johne’s and Neospora testing with full bulk tank analysis and mastitis culture and sensitivity

This is an exciting time to join as there is a major investment in a refurbishment currently happening 

Role: The ideal candidate will enjoy routine dairy work, with an increasing and interesting amount of beef, sheep, gamebird, smallholder work, and export work. The practice will consider full or part-time work to attract the very best farm Vets to join them

Weekends/OOHs: Equal OOH rota working 1 in 5 with time off in lieu of working weekends

Salary: Full-time salary rage of

  • £40,000 p/a for a 2-year vet
  • Up to £60,000 p/a for an experienced vet

CPD: 5 days CPD worth £1,750 with £2,500 for advanced qualifications
