Practice: This group of practices was established over 70 years ago and they are a mixed animal practice serving Staffordshire and the surrounding counties in the Midlands

Team Info: Their small animal, Large animal & equine departments run separately from each other and they have designated teams at each of their practices. All of the practices are individuals but two important things bring them together; a commitment to excellence in everything they do.

Facilities: Their largest site is a busy, purpose-built practice offering a varied and exciting caseload. The practice is well equipped with Laparoscopy, ultrasound, endoscopy, Bronchoscopy, Ophthalmology microscope Ophthalmic surgical microscope, dental x-ray, in-house lab, and much more.

Role: Our client has a great opportunity for a Lead Veterinary Surgeon to lead and further develop their fantastic, longstanding, and welcoming team.

Hours: 40 hours over 4 days or 5 days, an equal share of Saturday rota (1 in 5 to 1 in 6 with lieu time the following week) No Sundays or OOH.

Your role and responsibilities:

  • The Lead Vet role would ideally suit someone with surgical bias/orthopaedic interest, although all interests are welcomed. The ideal candidate will have excellent clinical, communication, teamwork, and mentoring skills, and experience in quality improvement but this role will be highly supported by leadership teams so would suit someone with a desire to develop their leadership skills.
  • If you have problem-solving abilities, some experience in leadership within a practice team, and the ability to understand and interpret financial performance this could be the role for you. This role will be providing quality clinical work whilst leading the team and helping to ensure the happiness of our teams, outstanding patient and client care, and therefore financial success.

Candidate:

  • Experienced vet with leadership skills, or someone with a strong desire to develop with support
  • Would suit a vet with any clinical interest, but particularly keen to seek a vet with surgical/ orthopaedic interest
  • Established a long-term team of vets, nurses, and receptionists. Several certificate vet holders and others experienced.
