Permanent Night Registered Veterinary Nurse - Kidderminster

Facilities: They are proud to be one of the first UK practices to achieve dog-friendly status from the Dogs Trust/BVBA Dog-Friendly Clinic scheme, having already been a fear-free accredited practice. They also have Gold ISFM cat-friendly status, are officially rabbit-friendly with Silver RWAF status, and are an RCVS-accredited practice.

Their purpose-built premises and facilities enable them to provide a high standard of care, with separate dog and cat wards, 4 consulting rooms, digital x-ray including dental x-ray, high-quality ultrasound with Doppler, in-house lab, endoscope, optic loop, Tonovet pen, cautery, and laser therapy.

Team: They have a strong clinical team of 6-7 vets, 7 RVNs, 1 SVN, 1 VCA, and 1 ANA, with a range of experience between 6 and 30 years, and a brilliant admin/reception team who keep everything running smoothly. Everyone is supportive and always try to help each other. The practice is very much part of the community.

Role: On-call night nurse with some daytime but can be flexible on this and would consider just night nurse. Salary would adjust if just nights. 

Duties: They are looking for an on-call RVN to join their friendly and supportive team in Kidderminster. They are a busy, independent, family-owned veterinary practice and are searching for another night nurse to help them in their commitment to providing high-quality care for clients and their pets. Hours:

  • The position will comprise of 1 week of on-call nights as follows, Monday to Friday 7 pm to 8.30 am and Saturday 12.30 pm to 8.30 am Monday.
  • Then 2 weeks of no on-call but working 4 (variable) days per week totaling 30.75 hours.
  • Other hours may be considered for the right person.
  • They have a diverse caseload meaning you can utilise those invaluable nursing skills which are greatly appreciated here.

Duties: No two days are alike and they need someone who is efficient, can multitask, keeps calm under pressure, and shows initiative. You will be working in an incredibly experienced and established team, comprising of 6 vets, 8 RVNs, and a SVN, along with a team of support staff. They have a diverse caseload meaning you can really utilise those invaluable nursing skills which are greatly appreciated here.

The Teams:

  • Nights: You will be working alongside 1, highly experienced vet, from their team of 4 on-call vets, during your night shifts. There is also access to a team of experienced and incredibly supportive vets, nurses, and support staff. Staying at the surgery during shifts would be envisaged though if very local other options would be considered.
  • During day Shifts you will be working alongside a team of 6 vets, 5 RVNs, 1 SVN, 1 VCA and group of wonderful receptionists and admins.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist veterinarians in surgical procedures and examinations
  • Monitoring and care for animals during and post-surgery
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed
  • Conduct laboratory tests and analyse results
  • Maintain accurate medical records for all patients
  • Provide compassionate care to animals and their owners
  • Keep the clinic clean and organised

Requirements:

  • Qualified Veterinary Nurse with relevant certifications
  • Proficient in laboratory procedures and equipment operation
  • Strong understanding of veterinary practices and procedures
  • Excellent communication skills with both colleagues and pet owners
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Compassionate nature towards animals and their welfare
  • This role would suit both a newly qualified or experienced RVN, wanting to jump into a supportive and progressive practice position.

Salary: The salary on offer is dependent on experience and will be discussed at the interview.
