Permanent Registered Veterinary Nurse - Leeds

Role: Permanent Registered Veterinary Nurse

Type: Small Animal

Location: Leeds, West Yorkshire

Practice: It is our clients' mission to make specialist surgical care more accessible. Their specialist surgical teams are up to date with the latest surgical techniques, and routinely carry out highly complex surgeries, enabling them to confidently take on the most challenging cases. They have fixed pricing, and everything they do is backed up by a unique Surgical Complications Guarantee that covers any complications arising from surgery within 6 months of the procedure.

Team:  Consists of two Specialist Surgeons, one residency-trained Surgeon, and one Certificate holder with vast experience. The Surgeons are supported by 4 Interns, 11 RVNs, and 3 Animal Care Assistants.

Hours:

  • The current rota includes 1 week of nights every 10 weeks, which is compensated with a full week off the week following, then rotating through the aforementioned disciplines.
  • Shift times are 7am-3pm or 12pm-8pm for ward duties, or 8am-4pm, 10am-6pm and 11am-7pm for surgery and imaging (including CT).
  • Their nursing team provides exceptional care to patients in all areas of the hospital, with a common goal to constantly improve patient safety and recovery.
  • You should be able to communicate a positive image of the hospital and its services and be friendly, helpful, and approachable to all colleagues and clients.

Duties: They are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated Registered Veterinary Nurse to join their friendly team on a full-time basis.

  • The role is primarily a surgical nursing position within a fast-paced referral hospital, and they see a range of interesting orthopaedics cases including cruciates, fractures, hip reduction/replacement, angular limb deformity, as well as advanced spinal and soft tissue surgeries.
  • You will have the opportunity to provide support to all 4 surgeons within their Specialist-led team, giving you the chance to grow and develop your surgical skills and knowledge.
  • This is a rotating nurse position, so as well as assisting in surgery you will also rotate through wards, imaging, anaesthesia, and occasional night cover.

Applicant Requirements:

  • The veterinary nurse plays an important role here.
  • Their nursing team offers exceptionally high standards of clinical care to our patients whilst communicating effectively with all other members of the hospital team and the pet owner. They are looking for people who share this ethos.
  • They hold regular nurse meetings and you will be encouraged to be involved and forthcoming with constructive ideas.
  • You will be a confident RVN with great communication, organisational skills, and a passion for development.
  • Along with existing experience, in-house training and external CPD will provide you with the knowledge and skills to carry out these duties.

Salary: They are offering an industry-leading salary package from £30,000-32,000pa to the successful candidate, as well as a discretionary performance-based bonus and fantastic career development opportunities (£32,000pa for DipAVN/VTS RVNs).

Benefits:

  • 4 weeks paid holiday, not including bank holidays
  • 3 days of paid CPD leave
  • £550 CPD allowance per annum
  • RCVS Membership paid
  • Service-based holiday entitlement increases
  • VDS cover
  • Enhanced maternity, adoption, shared parental leave, and surrogacy pay
  • Enhanced paternity pay
