Permanent Registered Veterinary Nurse - Northwich

Type: Small Animal

Location: Northwich

Practice Type: Independent practice across two sites

Facilities: Their flagship Hospital is an independent RCVS accredited small animal hospital, nurse training practice, and gold cat-friendly clinic which strives to provide the highest standards of first opinion care for patients and clients. They have two theatres, a dental suite including dental radiography, an in-house lab with IDEXX blood and urinalysis machines (including sedivue), an EPOC machine, high-quality ultrasound, video endoscope, and laparoscope. Their new purpose-built standalone practice opened twelve months ago. Here they provide the same standard of care, with only overnight inpatient care being transferred to the hospital.

Team: They have seven vets with Advanced Practitioners in Anaesthesia, ECC, and Medicine and are fully supported by an experienced and dedicated front-of-house team, all of whom have completed, or are currently completing, the BVRA accredited veterinary receptionist awards. They also have a visiting specialist vet in Orthopaedics, Soft Tissue Surgery, Cardiology, and Diagnostic imaging. This allows them to provide a fantastic standard of care to all patients and the opportunity to care for interesting and challenging cases. Their fantastic nursing team of eight RVNs and three SVNs is led by a DipAVN and includes ECC certificate holders.

Support: As an employer, they are committed to promoting and protecting the physical and mental health of all their staff. They have a very friendly and inclusive team right across the practice with vets, nurses, and reception staff all supporting each other - they are looking for the right candidates to maintain and enhance this.

Role: They are looking for at least three RVNs to add to their growing practice team.

Candidates: The right candidates will truly care for patients, be good team players and be enthusiastic, proactive, and motivated to provide a high-quality first opinion service to patients and clients.

Duties: Their nursing team is involved in all aspects of the practice, including the provision of 24-hour on-site inpatient care. The feeling of a good job done well and seeing that really poorly inpatient get better and go home makes it worthwhile. They use an OOH service provider for OOH calls. They value all their team and strive to provide both a good work-life balance and real job satisfaction.

Hours:

  • Their nursing rota has been updated and refined for their growing team, with extensive consultation within the practice.

  • They offer a four-day working week (shifts a combination of 8-5, 10-7, or 11-8)

  • A shared weekend/night rota.

  • Weekend days are 08:00-20:00 (with days off in lieu).

  • Overnight inpatient care is Monday - Sunday 20:00-08:00 with a full week off in lieu.

  • The weekday day shifts are shared across the sites to maintain their 'one team' approach.

Salary: They reward their RVNs with salaries from £28,000 (new/recently qualified) to £38,000 depending on experience and further qualifications.

Benefits: Further support such as seven weeks of holiday, generous CPD budget and encouragement, trained mental health first aiders within the team, staff pet discounts, paid memberships and pension are included.
