We are currently recruiting on behalf of a lovely practice in Hornsea, East Yorkshire that is looking for a Veterinary Surgeon on a full-time permanent basis. Our client is expanding their small animal services over the coming months, so this could be an interesting journey for vets who wants to come along with them and have input into the discussions about how they proceed.

The Practice:

Our client has been established since the 1940s and to this day remains true to its origins. They have 2 clinics, offering a range of services to their clients across East Yorkshire.

Their aim is to provide excellent veterinary care and customer service, with good value for money. They provide assistance 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, by their own dedicated and friendly team of Vets, Nurses, and Receptionists.

Within their practice, they offer medical, surgical, and ambulatory services. They can perform many diagnostic procedures in house, offering same-day results where ever possible. They also offer complementary therapies, such as acupuncture and homeopathy, courtesy of one of their talented Vets.

As the practice progresses and introduces more procedures, they may start to look for small animal vets with a wider range of skills, such as those happy with first opinion level orthopaedic surgeries.

The Role and Candidate:

Our lovely clients are looking for a small animal vet with some post-graduate experience. The experience level required is to be happy with a sole charge for consultations, general practice diagnostics, and first opinion basic surgeries, such as neutering, dentals, lump removals, etc. Vets who are confident with first opinion further surgeries such as gastrotomy/enterotomy, caesarean, cystotomy, GDV, etc. would be great but if support is needed to progress to these surgically then that is ok too.

Although they have two practice it is very unusual for vets to be asked to go between branches in one day (the occasional emergency but we tend to stay at one place for the day).

The intended rota is 4 weekdays per week (mix of 8.30-7 pm and 8.30-5 pm) with 1 night on call (The nurses will remain on call too). The weekends are 1 weekend on call in 5, and 2 Saturday mornings in 5 (one of which will be on the weekend on-call, so 3 weekends in 5 will be weekends off). For these roles, they do not intend to have a formal second on-call vet, however, the directors can be contacted in case of need for disasters (or someone's first GDV for example!).

The Package:

The take-home salary will depend on whether accommodation is required or not, they can also provide a vehicle if wanted. The accommodation is most likely to be in Beverley. To give you an idea, they were considering around £35,000 for this package for someone with a suitable experience level.
