We are working with a dedicated canine only practice in Birmingham, West Midlands that is looking for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join them on a full-time permanent basis. The practice has a surgical bias so they are looking for applicants that share this interest.

The Practice:

This practice was founded from the love of animals, the founder and owner of the business started out over a decade ago where he found his passion for canine fertility and wanted to offer a local friendly service. Stemming from this, they have grown from strength to strength soon realizing the demand to expand was extremely high.

The practice is like no other, they have state of the art equipment and everything has been purpose-built to make your job as simple and straight forward as possible. They are a surgically biased practice, performing multiple surgeries per day alongside their general consults. Some of the regular procedures include; Soft Palate, stenotic nares correction, cesarean sections, lumpectomy, prolapse of the third eyelid gland, spays, castrations, surgical oncology, and so forth.

The Role and Candidate: 

Your main responsibility is to carry out first opinion small animal veterinary work, including consultations, diagnostics, investigations, surgical procedures, and inpatient care. You will have the opportunity to manage your own clinical cases from start to finish and you will be working in a hospital environment with access to an extensive range of diagnostic and surgical equipment (including a full in-house IDEXX Laboratory).

This is a full-time permanent role where you will work 40 hours per week including paid lunch breaks. You will participate in an out of hours rota that will include some weekends (1 in 3) and bank holidays on a rotating pattern between 5 vets. Out of hours are paid additionally to your salary; you will be compensated per call out.

In regards to their consults, our client sees a lot of bull breeds and is known to have a breadth of experience with the breed. As a result of that, they see a range of consults for; Ortho related concerns, Optholmology, Dermatology and Gastrointestinal Issues.

The Package:

As a practice, they pride themselves on looking smart and being part of a uniformed team, a uniform is provided which must be worn during working hours. Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is supported and encouraged through the provision of an allowance and time off and the allowance is negotiable. Regular clinical discussion and sharing of best practice within the team is encouraged.

They are offering an excellent salary between £45,000-£75,000 p/a - which is dependent on skills and experience.
