We are currently recruiting on behalf of an independent small animal practice in Darlington, which requires a Veterinary Surgeon to join their team on a permanent basis. They would prefer a full-time vet, but part-time applicants will be considered.

The Practice:

The practice aims to provide a warm and friendly environment to provide the best possible care to their patients. They have the main surgery and a branch located 10 miles away, with a team of 4.5 full-time vets, and 9 nurses working in support. The practice has modern, up-to-date facilities including a fully-equipped modern theatre as well as a digital x-ray suite. They have an in-house lab, ultrasound equipment, ECG, endoscope, all suitable for not only larger pets such as cats and dogs but also smaller companions such as rabbits and guinea pigs.

The Role:

This is a full-time role, working 4 days per week, between 09.00 and 17.30/18.00 (19.00 if on-call) with one-night on-call per week. There is also a weekend rota of 1 in 4, full weekends on call, working Saturday 9.00-16.00 and Sunday 10.00-11.00 with on-call Friday - Monday. and 1 in 4 half weekends Friday night on-call with Saturday 9.00-13.00.

There will be some sole charge branch work required, as well as during any out of hours work.

Although this is a full-time vacancy they will also consider part-time candidates.

The Package:

In return, the practice is offering a competitive salary and benefits package, subject to experience, including:-

  • Salary of between £30,000 and £50,000 p/a (FTE) DOE
  • CPD allowance
  • RCVS and VDS fees paid
  • 25 days holiday
  • Pension scheme.

The Candidate:

The ideal candidate will be friendly and proactive and will fit in well with the existing team. The practice consists of a very experienced team, so happy to consider vets with all levels of experience, from a new graduate to a vet with lots of experience.
