We are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established practice in South East London. The practice require an experienced small animal Veterinary Surgeon to join their team on a permanent basis.

The Practice:

This is an RCVS Accredited practice with a fantastic team of Veterinary Nurses, receptionists and a practice manager to support you and enable you to carry out your job to the highest standard. The practice has high team values and operate very much as a team and consider all members of being a valuable and vital part of the team. They see a wide variety of clients and cases and to enable best possible care we have a good standard of equipment for a small clinic. This includes digital X-ray, dental X-ray, ultrasound, endoscopy, in-house laboratory (haematology, biochemistry, and electrolytes, plus urinalysis), tonopen, ECG, blood pressure monitoring, pulse oximetry and basic orthopaedic kit.

The Role:

This is a full-time role offering a good rota to maximise your work-life balance, with an average of a 40-hour working week, working alternate Saturday mornings from 9-12, with the following Friday, Saturday and Sunday off, and no out of hours or night checks. This gives you plenty of time to enjoy the wonderful city that we live in and join us for a drink at the local put after a long day!

The Candidate:

The Vet needs to be confident in all aspects of first opinion medicine and surgery, as there is sole charge involved. Due to this, the position is not suitable for new graduates. They have a wide variety of clients and cases, and you will both consult and deal with in patients both surgical and medical on a daily basis. Being a small team, you will be able to work up your own cases and see them through to conclusion.

The Vet will be happy to perform general surgery such as an enterectomy, splenectomy, caesarean, thyroidectomy and femoral head excision. Good ultrasound skills, including competence with both abdominal and cardiac scans, would be fantastic, but not essential. There is plenty of scope to bring a unique skill to the clinic so that we can offer something “new” to our clients.

The Practice Management System (Teleos) is nice and simple to use, and really does help you do this effectively and efficiently. You will need to be well organised, punctual and reliable for the same reasons.
