Permanent Veterinary Surgeon - Chesterfield

Location: Chesterfield, Derbyshire

Practice Type: A busy small animal practice that see a wide variety of cases that is part of a group. They have refurbished modern main practice and due to continued business growth they now have a branch practice in a neighbouring area.

Team Info: They have a fantastic team of RVN’s (14 of them) who are highly competent, happy, friendly, and supportive, including certificate holders in Physiotherapy, Dermatology, and ECC. 

They have a team of 9.5 vets with certificate holders in Dermatology and internal medicine and other vets in further study in the areas of ECC, internal medicine, and surgery. They also host veterinary new graduates supported by a Development Program.

Facilities: Both practices have all the facilities and equipment you would expect in general practice including digital X-rays, digital dental X-rays, tonometer, video otoscope, rigid endoscopy, capnography, multiple multiparameter patient monitoring devices, and ultrasound. They are RCVS PSS accredited to GP status at both sites and an RVN training centre affiliated with Nottingham Trent University. 

Hours: The average hours are approx. 41 hours per week (with a day off a fortnight) rota’d between the hours of 8 am and 7 pm.

Weekends: 1:6 full weekend (Sat 9am till 3pm / Sun 10am till 12pm) and 1:6 Saturday mornings (9am till 1pm)

OOHs: There are no out-of-hours as this is provided by Vets Now Chesterfield, but they have the facilities to look after inpatients.

Skills/Exp: The successful candidate will have at least 2 years of experience working within a busy practice with good surgical skills, be a team player, and have an excellent command of English.

Duties: They are a busy small animal practice that sees a wide variety of cases. You will have full clinical freedom and work cases up to a high standard. They have an excellent vet team and are looking for an experienced team member to enhance their offerings to loyal clients.

Salary: Candidates can expect to receive a salary commensurate with experience, within the range of £35,000-£50,000 per year, all VDS and RCVS fees are also covered.

Benefits: Holiday allowance is 6 weeks per year, plus bank holidays plus your birthday off. The CPD allowance is 3 days per year, further study to the level of RCVS certificate can be funded and is strongly encouraged.
