Permanent Veterinary Surgeon - Ealing, West London

Type: Small Animal

Location: Ealing, West London

Practice: This is an independent group of small animal practices

Facilities: At this practice, they have a fully equipped consulting room enabling thorough examinations to be carried out on site. They have a surgical theatre in this clinic allowing routine operations and minor procedures to be performed and there are kennel facilities to house day patients. With support from the group hospital if required.

Team: You will be joining a lovely group of Vets, Nurses, and Support Teams that work together to provide the best service to pets and their owners.

Hours: Full-time, 3x 90:00-19:15, 1 x 09:00-16:15 and 1 day off (all days have an hour lunch break)

Weekends:

  • 1 in 5 Saturday morning (09:00-12:15)
  • 1 in 5 Weekends - These are based at the main branch and the structure is: 08:30-18:00 Saturday. Last appt 14:00 and phones to Vets Now at 17:00. 14:00-18:00 is just mopping up anything that came in that morning that might need something doing and sorting inpatients. From 18:00 it is then just looking after the inpatients. Sunday the phones stay with Vets Now and so it is just looking after the inpatients until Monday am. They stay to plan to be in the clinic from 09:00 - Midday. But if all is done sooner there's no need to stay on. The vets do the inpatient checks on the weekends as the nurses do Monday - Friday.

OOHs: 1 weekday evening per week inpatient duty. The nurses come in and do the checks, the vet just needs to be available on the phone for the nurse to call if they are worried about a case, etc.

Skills/Exp: The candidate needs to be confident with all routine surgery as they will be the only vet in the building. The role would suit a vet that would enjoy making the surgery their own.

Sole Charge: Yes

Branch Work: A driver is ideal as some days it might be required to come across to the main practice to consult for a couple of hours.

Salary: Generous salary that is reflective of experience and skills

Benefits: Full details will be discussed in the interview and there is the possibility of including the flat above the surgery in the final package.
