Permanent Veterinary Surgeon Full or Part-time - Kings Lynn

We are working with a practice in Kings Lynn, near the beautiful Norfolk coastline, that is looking for a permanent Veterinary Surgeon to join them on a full or part-time basis.

The Practice:

This bright, air-conditioned surgery is purpose-built to industry-leading standards and has state of the art equipment including digital X-ray, ECG, Idexx in-house laboratory, ultrasound, dentistry facilities and I-phone/I-pad heart monitor and they are the only practice in Kings Lynn to use Sevoflurane.  They are a progressive practice and have ambitions to provide world-class clinical care at the very heart of their community and they need great people to join their team to help them realise this vision. They have a good range of ages and skills within their existing vet team. By joining their vet practice, you will enjoy support from a wonderful team including 4 qualified RVNs, 2 student vet nurses, 4 receptionists and 2 kennel assistants.

The Role and Candidate:

Your duties will include:

  •  work from a surgery or visit animals in their living environments
  • carry out home visits
  • handle, examine and treat all species of animals,
  • meet and consult with the owners and carers of various animals
  • carry out tests such as x-rays, blood samples and ultrasound scans
  • give advice on issues such as nutrition, breeding and health
  • immunise animals against different types of disease
  • euthanise old and terminally ill animals
  • perform surgery, including managing anaesthesia
  • work on out-of-hours emergency cases when on call
  • maintain up-to-date records
  • liaise with, and refer to, other professionals within the industry   

You'll need strong general medical experience with demonstrable surgical skills and confidence in communicating with owners and their pets. One vett here has a particular interest in exotics so if you want to gain more exposure to exotic cases or have a specialism you're keen to develop, this could be a great opportunity for you! They are looking for a vet who enjoys being a vet, values a good salary, is interested in engaging in all aspects of veterinary care and enjoys clinical discussions and mentoring all members of the team. An interest in studying for a certificate would be encouraged and funded.  You'll need to feel comfortable doing sole charge and be skilled medically and surgically. Cardiology and orthopaedic surgery are done here as well as the more routine work you might expect. Strong communication, organisational and interpersonal skills along with a demonstrable passion for your chosen career and a cheerful can-do attitude would be perfect.
