Permanent Veterinary Surgeon - Hertfordshire

Location: Two practices between Barnet and St Albans

Practice: Part of a larger group

Facilities: They have two lovely surgeries that both have friendly clients, with a large uptake of insured pets. Both surgeries are well equipped. They have a great local reputation and enjoy being very much part of the local community.

About the Team and Culture:

  • They have 4 Vets, a Practice Manager, 7 Nurses, and 2 Receptionists. You couldn't find a friendlier team!
  • They have amazing staff retention; most have been here for many years. Everyone is super supportive, clinically, physically, and emotionally.
  • They have great clients, almost all of who have come to us from a personal recommendation, and they are renowned for the personal attention they give to patients and their owners.
  • They are looking forward to getting involved again with community projects, such as local dog shows and school visits. Several of their staff bring their own dogs with them to work and they can always find a peaceful place for them to settle down!

Role: They have an excellent opportunity for a confident Veterinary Surgeon to join their team, you will be based 50/50 between their two lovely practices.

Duties: They are looking for someone who has an all-round knowledge and who can manage all the normal vet duties including occasional sole charge, (another vet will be available at the other surgery).

Hours: Their vets work 40 hours per week over 4 days. The shifts include 3 x 9:00 am-7:30 pm, 1 x 10:00 am-5:30 pm and one day off every week with Fridays on a 1:4 rotation, no OOH. They can be flexible on shift patterns.

Skills/Exp:

  • They are looking for a Veterinary Surgeon with some experience as this role will sometimes require you to work on your own.
  • They don't need any further qualifications apart from MRCVS, but they would be happy to encourage an applicant who is looking to do a certificate, etc.
  • Interest in ultrasound especially echocardiography would be an advantage.
  • Good humor and the ability to laugh along with the team on those tougher days is definitely a benefit!

Salary: The salary is up to £50,000 p/a depending on experience
