Permanent Veterinary Surgeon - Northwich
Type: Small Animal
Location: Northwich
Practice Type: Independent practice across two sites
Facilities: Their flagship Hospital is an independent RCVS accredited small animal hospital, nurse training practice, and gold cat-friendly clinic which strives to provide the highest standards of first opinion care for patients and clients. They have two theatres, a dental suite including dental radiography, an in-house lab with IDEXX blood and urinalysis machines (including sedivue), an EPOC machine, high-quality ultrasound, video endoscope, and laparoscope. Their new purpose-built standalone practice opened twelve months ago. Here they provide the same standard of care, with only overnight inpatient care being transferred to the hospital.
Team: They have seven vets with Advanced Practitioners in Anaesthesia, ECC, and Medicine and are fully supported by an experienced and dedicated front-of-house team, all of whom have completed, or are currently completing, the BVRA accredited veterinary receptionist awards. They also have a visiting specialist vet in Orthopaedics, Soft Tissue Surgery, Cardiology, and Diagnostic imaging. This allows them to provide a fantastic standard of care to all patients and the opportunity to care for interesting and challenging cases. Their fantastic nursing team of eight RVNs and three SVNs is led by a DipAVN and includes ECC certificate holders.
Support: As an employer, they are committed to promoting and protecting the physical and mental health of all their staff. They have a very friendly and inclusive team right across the practice with vets, nurses, and reception staff all supporting each other - they are looking for the right candidates to maintain and enhance this.
Role: They would like to add one or two veterinary surgeons to their growing practice team - ideally with a minimum of one year's experience although they would consider less.
Candidates: The right candidates will truly care for patients, be good team players and be enthusiastic, proactive, and motivated to provide a high-quality first-opinion service to patients and clients. They provide consistent support and the opportunity to improve and grow as a vet. Post-graduate qualifications are encouraged.
Hours:
- Their vets enjoy a four-day week plus two days off in lieu of working a weekend (Saturday and Sunday 08:00–17:00). The rota is currently 1:8.
- They use a dedicated out-of-hours provider for on-call, but their inpatients are cared for by the RVN team and the hospital is staffed 24/7.
- The vets share responsibility for the inpatients (1:8 nights).
Salary: They aim to reward their Veterinary Surgeons with very competitive salaries - £38,000 - £70,000 p/a - depending on experience and further qualifications
Benefits: They value all their team and strive to provide both a good work-life balance and real job satisfaction. Further support such as a seven weeks holiday, a generous CPD budget, scheduled admin time, trained mental health first aiders within the team, staff pet discounts, paid memberships and pension is included.
