Permanent Veterinary Surgeon - Sunderland

Practice Type: They are an independent busy first-opinion practice, that appreciates and values its employees.  

  • They are a small animal practice on the North East coast, currently running with a 2 vet team, supported by 4 RVNs, 3 SVNs (all soon to qualify), and a reception / ANA team. 
  • They have a dedicated team, great facilities, and flexible management, which all work together to ensure a great work/life balance.
  • They are extremely supportive of staff training and actively encourage all aspects of CPD, supporting certificates, further clinical skills, and areas of interest.
  • They routinely offer Laparoscopic & orthopaedic surgery in-house. 

Branch work: Based at one site (so no traveling from branch to branch), allowing for client continuity. 

Role: Our client is looking for a third Veterinary Surgeon to join their hardworking friendly team. From March/April 2025.

Hours: Full-time - 40hrs per week

  • 4 x 10hr days
  • 1:3 Saturday mornings (8.30 am to 12 pm, 3.5hrs consults only)
  • No OOH
  • No on call
  • No BH working
  • No branch working (based at one site)
  • Time back in lieu the following week for Saturdays worked

Duties:

  • A mix between consults and surgery.
  • They are happy to train and mentor someone needing assistance or further support. 
  • They routinely offer laparoscopic and orthopaedic surgery and are happy to train in these areas if of interest.
  • Additionally, if you have a medical interest they would be keen to support this and look to fund further training/certificates.

Skills/Exp: Ideally they would like a candidate interested in medicine, however, they are open to speaking to all candidates and can support a new grad through their VetGDP.
