Practice Type: Independent practice accredited by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) as a tier 3 veterinary hospital. They are very proud of this hospital's status and 2 branch practices. As a team, they have continued to be dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of care and facilities ever since. Being privately owned gives them the freedom to make the best decisions to provide the highest levels of care for the animals they look after.
Team: They have a progressive team of 7 vets, including two certificate holders, and are always open to new ideas and take pride in offering a high standard of care to clients and patients. Their vets are fully supported by an excellent team of 11 nurses together with an experienced team of receptionists and admin staff.
Role: They are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated first-opinion vet to join the team in delivering the highest quality of care to clients and patients.
Skills/Exp: The ideal candidate will be confident in consulting, performing first-opinion surgical procedures, performing diagnostic investigations, dentistry, work-ups, and providing dedicated inpatient care.
Branchwork: You will be working across all three branches but will be mainly based in the Hospital where their surgical and hospitalisation facilities are situated. They also have a resident nurse on site 24 hours a day. A driving licence and car are required but business mileage is reimbursed
Hours: Full Time – 4 days per week (Part-time roles would be considered but would include weekends as detailed below)
- Start 8.30 am unless on ops, then 8 am.
- Finish time depends on a rota, between 5.30 pm and 6.30 pm on standard days
- No overnight on-call, once a week late finish until 9 pm (1 pm start on these days)
- Shared weekend rota, 1 weekend in 5 – consults on Sat and Sun morning and on-call until 5 pm
- Monday and Friday off following duty weekend
- No Sole charge
OOHS: After 9 pm weekdays and 5 pm at weekends, emergencies are handled by their OOH partner. They do have a nurse on site 24-hours, and they keep their inpatients at their hospital overnight. Their nurses will also collect any patients admitted overnight to their OOH partner so that they can be brought back to the hospital for ongoing care.
Essential role-related knowledge, skills, qualifications, and experience:
- Member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons
- Post-qualification experience in small animal practice
- Some experience with large animals would be helpful on occasion
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
- Computer literate
- Strong organisation and time management skills
- Customer/client focussed
- Able to work well under pressure
- Self-motivated and able to work with minimum supervision
- Enthusiastic
- Team player
- Hold a full driving licence

Salary: Excellent salary dependent on experience - broadly within the band of £45,000 to £65,000 p/a
