Permanent SmallAnimal Veterinary Surgeon -Bucks

We are currently working with an accredited RCVS practice that is situated in a charming village-based close to Buckingham in Buckinghamshire. The team would like to welcome a further permanent small animal veterinary surgeon to join them.

The Practice:

This is a forward-looking practice that still maintains traditional values of animal care and client trust. They have two sites and a dedicated team of 6 Veterinary Surgeons 5 FTE, 6 RVNs, 1 SVN, 1 VCA, and a customer care team. The practice has an excellent reputation for providing high-quality care. They provide a friendly, supportive environment for their staff who handle a varied caseload which means they have the opportunity to advance and enhance their skills. It also means that the practice can provide the community it serves with the best possible options for their patients to receive a good diagnosis and prognosis for a healthy life. Their main surgery is equipped with full diagnostic, laboratory, surgical, and hospitalisation facilities. This enables them to have the satisfaction of investigating and treating their patients to a high clinical standard whilst referring to specialists when appropriate. They perform their own cardiac scans, endoscopy (rhinoscopy & otoscopy all the way through to colonoscopy), laparoscopy (90%+ of spays are “keyhole”), fracture repair and stifle TTA’s; and improve the quality of our surgical procedures and outcomes with bipolar diathermy, harmonic scalpels and “Enseal” equipment. Dental x-rays are available at both sites with air-driven equipment, sharp instruments, and “Vet-tome” to make “dentals'' a pleasure rather than a chore.

The Role:

This is a permanent position working 40 hours a week over 4.5 days with 1:4 Saturday mornings. They do their own overnight hospitalisation of any ongoing cases as required, alongside an experienced RVN.

The Candidate:

The position would suit a capable, charismatic, and highly motivated Veterinary Surgeon with good clinical, interpersonal and communication skills & the desire to improve and progress further. The ideal candidate will be able to undertake some sole charge work, be capable of handling more complicated consultations and cases and have competent surgical skills (e.g. Caesarean section, pyometra).

The Package:

Competitive salary of between £45,000-£65,000 p/a DOE plus numerous benefits including

  • Enhanced holiday entitlement and increasing holiday based on length of service
  • CPD paid days and allowance
  • L&D opportunities through the Group Academy
